...A Little Bit of History
Lime plaster is type of plaster composed of hydrated lime, sand and water. It's the same coatings used on buildings for thousands of years. One of the earliest examples of lime plaster dates back to the end of the eighth millennium BC. Three statues were discovered in a buried pit at 'Ain Ghazal in Jordan that were sculpted with lime plaster over armatures of reeds and twine. Later the Romans were known to use it mixed with marble dust as a fine application over a coarser lime and sand aggregate, not dissimilar to the technique used today by us. Continued use of slaked lime putty existed throughout the middle ages. During the Renaissance in the mid 16-th century the Marmorino finish was reintroduced in Venice largely due to the efforts of Andrea Palladio and used externally over civil plaster masonry. The most notable is the highly polished Stucco Veneziano found in the palaces and Villas of 16th and 17th century Most Serene Republic of Venice. With the renewed interest in green technology, environmentally friendly lime plaster is enjoying new popularity in modern homes.

It is Best for You and Your Home... and Whole Planet.
Venetian Plaster is a wall finish that has proven the test of time. No paint texture will last a thousand years. Only Marble and Venetian Plasters have this kind of durability. The cost of marble makes the design of your home not very practical. But true Italian plaster is made out of marble and once it dries it actually returns back to stone. Venetian Plaster is not only beautiful and practical, but also one of the most "Green" eco-friendly and natural plaster wall finishes. Venetian Plaster, allows the walls to breathe. This is why they do not mold or mildew like paint or faux finish. The air in your home will become a healthy environment for you and your family. When you buy Venetian plaster and finish paints from Atova Interantional, you can rest assured, knowing that you are supporting the environment: our products are low-impact and eco-friendly. We care about results and also we want to make your home or office design beautiful, healthy and enjoyable.
